Canutells Cove
The favorite of fishermen
This narrow and shallow cove is surrounded by cliffs. If we come from the ravine of Sant Climent, we will find this jewel of rocky turquoise bottoms.
Here we can distinguish two small beaches, a larger one on the right and a smaller one on the left.
The first of these is famous among fishermen (both professional and amateur), but it is not one of the public’s favorites because its sand, into which a torrent constantly pours its waters, is always wet. In this sense, the smaller one is better because, although dwarf, it is drier than the previous one.
The cove as a whole is very sheltered from waves and storms, and is beautiful with its crystal clear waters and white sand, its rocky environment, its “garage caves” and its walkways where small boats of fishermen and vacationers rest.

Cala des Canutells in Menorca, how to get there?
Leaving from Mahón, the route by road includes traveling along the Me-12 until you find the detour to Carretera de Binidalí. We must continue along it until we reach Ctra. Canutells, which we will have to take on the right. Then follow the signs to Disseminat es Canutells and you will reach the cove.
There is a parking lot where we can park and we will see some stairs by which we will descend directly to the beach.
Services near Cala des Canutells
The characteristics of this beach could lead us to think that there are no services around it and, although it is true that there are not many, we can find something.
In addition to a parking lot and a playground, nearby there is a restaurant (Es Canutells Restaurant), an apartment complex for rent (Playa Canutells apartments) and a kayak rental company (Kayak Canutells) with which you can also paddle surf, rent bikes and even practice pilates on the beach.
It is true that the originality in the names leaves a little to be desired, but these services do not, as they all have very good ratings from their customers.

What to do in Es Canutells
In addition, of course, to enjoy its waters, it is interesting to stop and observe the “garage caves” present in the cliffs surrounding the cove. These are natural caves that were used by the locals for different purposes, from storage to accommodation (in some areas of the island, such as Calesfonts or Es Castell, these caves have even been converted into stores and restaurants).
Take the opportunity to inspect the surroundings and join the Camí de Cavalls to visit nearby beaches and other places of interest. In its 17th stage, which passes in front of Es Canutells, the route goes from Cala en Porter to Binisafúller and will allow us to know a little more of Menorca.
If you feel like a quieter plan, past the ravine of this cove, there is a picnic area sheltered by a pine forest, so you can always prepare a snack to enjoy under its shade; or you can visit one of the restaurants near Es Canutells, where you will surely find a varied offer to satisfy your palate and take the opportunity to taste some local products that you will surely love!
