What to do in Cala’n Forcat

Cala’n Forcat is a very small cove located in the urbanization Los Delfines, 7km from Ciutadella. A very touristic area that, in summer, as it happens in all Menorca, is full of Spanish and foreign tourists. It is almost sleeve-shaped, as it is very closed and around it there is a lot of vegetation and rocks, which are not all natural, as they have made some artificial platforms to facilitate access of swimmers to the water and to enjoy the entire beach. There is a small sandy area where you can enter the sea, but since it is so small and there are so many people, especially in high season, most people opt for access from the platforms.

If you are looking for an area where you can enjoy a vacation of beach and rest, in the area there are several resorts and hotels that offer many services, such as the Hotel Farragut, that will allow you to enjoy your well-deserved vacations in Menorca.

It has several advantages and disadvantages for which to choose or discard it. For example, an advantage of Cala’n Forcat would be its location, as it is located in a very touristic area and you can find other types of activities to substitute or complement your day at the beach. In the cove itself there is a small dive center “Happysub”, where you can sign up for classes and receive your diving baptism in Menorca, or any certification such as the PADI Open Water. You can also snorkel, the conditions of the beach invite you to do so because Cala’n Forcat is surrounded by rocks and vegetation that allow you to skirt this part of the island in search of native marine species, both fauna and flora.

However, it lacks lifeguard services, showers or catering and in full season there are usually quite a lot of tourists.

Paddle in Menorca, Cala’n Forcat

Paddle tennis is a common sport nowadays and in Menorca, specifically in the Farragut Hotel, they have taken it to the next level, as they have the court on the water, literally. They have 4 slopes with spectacular views that are always booked, so we recommend that you book in advance and try to avoid the central hours, because being in the sea humidity and high temperatures typical of summer can cause havoc.

Discover the magic of the sunset on the cliffs of Pont d’en Gil

If there is a magical corner in Menorca that is Pont d’en Gil. A natural suspension bridge located 1km from Cala n’Forcat, where the erosion of the wind and waves have created a hole in one of its cliffs, creating a bridge on which you can walk and where you will take the most spectacular photos of all your reel.

We recommend you to take a walk there at sunset, previously passing by Jimmy Hills for a crêpe or a fruit smoothie.

We will continue skirting the island, which will take us in a SW direction and leave Punta Prima and Punta dels Marbres to starboard. At this point we will have the Illa de l’Aire on our port side.

Following the coastline, we will head in a NW direction and ascend passing Cabo Binibeca, Illot d’en Marçal, Cap d’en Font, Cap de ses Penyes, Illot de Binicodrell, Punta de Macarella, Punta des Tambors… until we reach Cap d’Artrutx (at the SW end of the island).
