Caló Roig

 

Caló Roig is a virgin beach located south of Cala Alcaufar. Only 10 m long and 30 m wide, this tiny cove has hardly any sand space.

Formed by an inlet of the Menorcan coast, this cove offers a haven of paradisiacal aspect thanks to its crystal clear waters of a deep turquoise color and its white sandy beach.

Caló Roig in Menorca, how to get there?

It is possible to access it by the Camí de Cavalls, but if we prefer other options, we can also approach it by road. In this case, you should follow the same indications as for Cala Alcaufar: follow the signs towards Sant Lluis.

From there, when you reach the La Pau traffic circle, take the second exit towards the south (Me-8) and continue straight on until you reach the Cala Alcaufar urbanization (if you want to park, there are areas near the urbanization that you can use).

From the urbanization, following the Camí de Cavalls for about 800 meters, we can reach Caló Roig.
If we want to get to Alcaufar by public transport*, bus line 91 stops there, passing through Mahón, Sant Lluis and S’Algar.

What can we do in Caló Roig?

Although being such a small place there are no services as such in the area, its proximity to Cala Alcaufar means that we can enjoy the amenities it offers (restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, etc.). In fact, just 5 minutes away by car you will find restaurants such as Piccolo Mundo (traditional cuisine) and accommodation options such as the 4-star hotel Alcaufar Vell, both highly rated.

In addition, a few meters from Caló Roig, we also find the Torre de Defensa de Alcaufar, a visitable tower of the eighteenth century.

How to get to Cala Alcaufar by boat?

 

In order to reach Cala Alcaufar by boat, we will leave the port of Mahón heading SE. We will sail along the coast, leaving Illa del Rei to port.

We will continue out to the open sea, leaving the Punta de Sant Carles lighthouse to starboard.

Following the coastline in a southerly direction and once past the small ledge of Na Girada and Punta Rafalet, we will find an inlet to starboard towards which we will head.

We must leave Caló Roig to port and ascend in a NW direction to enter this inlet and reach Cala Alcaufar.

How to get to Caló Roig by boat?

In order to reach Caló Roig by boat, we will leave the port of Mahón heading SE. We will sail along the coast, leaving Illa del Rei to port.

We will continue out to the open sea, leaving the Punta de Sant Carles lighthouse to starboard.

Following the coastline in a southerly direction and once past the small ledge of Na Girada and Punta Rafalet, we will find Caló Roig to starboard and we can approach it from its NE side.
