Cala en Porter

A cove with two faces

Cala en Porter is a place for everyone, literally, for everyone. Of course… not always at the same times.

This cove is located between cliffs. With its white sandy beaches, shallow bottoms and sheltered location, it is more like a natural swimming pool than a regular beach. The multitude of services around, the presence of playgrounds and the safety offered by its waters (due to the characteristics of the land on which it rests), make it the ideal place for families with children who want to enjoy a quiet day at sea, without the stress of those who fear that strong and unexpected waves take their little ones.

At night, on the other hand, Cala en Porter is a place to celebrate. But not on the beach, but in a nearby cave, converted into a discotheque, which has become one of the obligatory stops for all those who visit the island: Cova d’en Xoroi.

When the sun goes down, then the party begins.

The legend of Cova d’en Xoroi

This cave excavated in the same cliff hides a sinister legend, according to which, this was the home of a Moor who kidnapped a young girl from a nearby village. He had three children with her during his captivity until his abduction was discovered by a local, the Moor wanted to flee by jumping off the cliff and took one of his children with him.

The captive, finally released, returned home, however, desolate, bringing with her only two of the three children she had had with her captor.
