Morell Cove

A landscape that will leave you speechless

At a distance of 7 km from Ciutadella we find Cala Morell, a beach recognized for its landscape value, as it is dominated by views with white houses (very typical of the Balearic Islands) and large areas of pine forests (common in the Mediterranean). The variation of colors and contrasts, especially in warmer seasons, make it one of the most beautiful places in Menorca. Let yourself be enveloped in the magic of a sunset in Cala Morell, accompanied by the turquoise waters, the legends and stories of its secret corners and the tranquility of nature, you will fall deeply in love.

It is not one of the largest beaches on the island, it is rather small, about 50 meters wide and 5 meters long. In addition, sand is not what predominates, but rather it is a scenery with an abundance of rocks among which live different marine species that you can see and observe if you like snorkeling. Cala Morell is one of the best cha rock on the sides, apart from the algae banks, where there are real ecosystems to discover.

The tranquility of its waters is due to its peculiar “L” shape. This helps the bathing area to be protected from the open sea so you can enjoy a nice swim in peace and quiet. This is also why it is a good area for anchoring, as it is sheltered from the north winds and the conditions of the seabed are conducive to it. In addition, in order to take advantage of more space on the beach and not depend only on the limited space of sand, concrete platforms have been built where you can sunbathe and go down to the water by stairs, or plunging directly into the water. If you don’t like sand when you go to the beach, this alternative is perfect for you.

What will leave you with your mouth open in this scenario, apart from the color of the water and its sunsets, are the shapes of the cliffs and the views of the Talayotic Necropolis of Cala Morell. If you are interested in visiting the 14 caves excavated in rock, of prehistoric origin, it is a space open to the public that allows visits and excursions. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss it, as the years of history will leave you impressed.

Having an urbanization next to the beach has its good things like, for example, having at your fingertips almost any service you may need. Whether it is a restaurant so you can eat nearby and still enjoy the beach without going far away, a pharmacy in case of a rash or sting is usually very useful, or a supermarket where you can buy water.

We will pass Cap Negre, Punta de Sa Galera and, finally, Punta de sa Cudia. On the port side we will see an inlet that leads to Es Grau and in front we will have Illa d’en Colom. We will have to overcome it leaving it on the port side and continue in a NW direction until we pass the Cap de Mossen Vives and the Escull den Tortuga. Once past the channel between the two, we will descend gently in a SW direction. We will pass Illa Bledes, Illa des Coloms, Cap Gros and Punta de Fra Bernat.

In this inlet is the beach of Cala Morell.
