White Cove

The favorite of posidonia

In Menorca there are coves for all kinds of activities. In this case, Cala Blanca is one of the best options for a family vacation. You will find an area full of services and activities designed for all ages.

A curiosity of this cove is the amount of oceanic posidonia that lives in the area. Usually every year they do a cleaning of the coasts when the summer begins, since during the cold seasons the sea leaves on the shore the plants that, following their natural life cycle, die, or those that have become detached, accumulating large piles.

Despite what is usually thought, Posidonia is not an algae, it is an aquatic plant and in its meadows there is a lot of life. Authentic marine ecosystems responsible for filtering the sea water and giving it that turquoise color that we like so much, as well as the transparency of the sea.

It is a plant of vital importance for the Mediterranean coast, especially in the Balearic Islands, where large meadows are concentrated. Poor anchoring practices and bad human habits have endangered it. The beaches of the Balearic Islands are at risk today, so it is important to raise awareness among children and set an example by respecting and caring for our beaches and coasts from irresponsible practices.
