Pudent Cove

A terrible name for a magical place

Cala Pudent is a virgin cove near Son Parc. Of white sand and vertical rock walls, the characteristics of the terrain, and the multiple sea inlets that form on the coast, make this cove is divided into several small beaches.

All these beaches, even though they are so close to each other, have very different characteristics. Starting at the N end, we find the cove that gives its name to the whole, and which is characterized by the accumulation of algae in its waters (the famous Posidonia oceanica) so it is the least attractive of all (in fact, the word “pudenda” means, literally, “ugly” or “that should cause embarrassment”).

Just below, we find the most “photographable” beach, because its fine white sand and turquoise waters, offer a postcard landscape of the Caribbean itself.

In the center we find the great favorite of the local inhabitants: Es Bol Petit. A small beach hidden in a secluded setting, between sharp rocks and crystal clear waters.

Behind them is Es Maressos, a beach of gravel and coarse sand and, in front, we find two more coves: one of pebbles called Es Caló Verd; and another one that is practically impossible to reach from land.

Its disparate characteristics, and its difficult access, make Cala Pudent one of the most exclusive coves in Menorca.

What to see near Cala Pudent in Menorca?

There are no services near this beach. However, it is only a 20-minute walk from Son Saura, so enjoying the amenities it has to offer is within reach for anyone visiting Cala Pudent. In fact, just 5 minutes away by car, we already find restaurants, such as the pizzeria L’isola or the restaurant Romeo and Juliet.

In any case, in the cove itself you can also do various activities. Without going any further, the presence of posidonia in the area (home to numerous aquatic species), make it an ideal place for diving.

In addition, this is one of the few Minorcan beaches that allow the presence of pets so, if we feel like taking a walk with our dogs, Cala Pudent is a good place to do it and enjoy a day at the beach in their company.

How to get to Cala Pudent by boat?

To reach Cala Pudent by boat, we will have to leave the port of Mahón in a SE direction, leaving the dock to starboard. We will continue through the port until we reach the open sea (up to Punta de Sant Carles).

At this point, we will leave the San Carlos lighthouse to starboard, and continue to port along the coast (heading NE) where we will pass La Mola and Punta de S’Espero, to continue in a NW direction (always sailing with the coast to port).

We will pass Cap Negre, Punta de Sa Galera and, finally, Punta de sa Cudia. On the port side we will see an inlet that leads to Es Grau and in front we will have Illa d’en Colom. We will have to overcome it leaving it on the port side and continue in a NW direction until we pass the Cap de Mossen Vives and the Escull den Tortuga. From the bow we will see the Cap de Favàritx and its unmistakable lighthouse.

Skirting the Favàritx point, we will sail in a NW direction until we see the Addaia islands. We will pass them on the port side and continue until we reach Punta Grossa, which we will leave on the port side to continue in a W direction.

Sailing in this position, we will see Punta de ses Llantaines on the port side, first, and then Cap Gros. To the N of Cap Gros is Cala Pudent.
