Pont d’en Gil in Menorca, how to get there?

You can get to Pont d’en Gil in different ways: by car, motorcycle, bike, walking or by sea. If you arrive by car, you can park in the parking lot of the urbanization that is 500 m from the beach, it will only take you a short walk of 10 minutes to reach the cove.

If you go on foot, it is a short 300 m stage of the famous Camí de Cavalls, which you can only do by bike or on foot. If you are going to do it by bike, it is a hard but feasible stretch, nothing that can’t be achieved with a little effort, water and desire. You can start the route at any point of Camí de Cavalls, but to reach Pont d’en Gil, the shortest route is from Cala en Blanes.

Another option is to arrive by public transportation. You can take line 61 towards Ciutadella – Cala en Clanes – Delfines. The closest stop to Pont d’en Gil is called Torre del Ram, and once you get off, you will have to walk for about 15 minutes. How to walk to Pont d’en Gil

Hiking is a wonderful practice for our health and in Menorca you have the possibility to practice it and make a spectacular route of coves following the famous stages of the Camí de Cavalls. In the case of Pont d’en Gil, you can reach it on foot from Cala en Blanes. If you are accompanied by children or elderly people, they may need a slow pace and caution because of the rocks or stones that may be found along the way, but they can do it without any problem. We recommend appropriate footwear both to get to the cove and to spend the day there, as it is a cove full of rocks and without the right footwear accidents may occur.

How to get by car to Pont d’en Gil

Leaving from Ciutadella, follow the signs to Cala en Blanes, Urbanización Los Delfines and Avinguda Pont d’en Gil. When you reach Los Delfines urbanization, continue in the direction of Avenida Pont d’en Gil, towards the west. You can leave your car at the end of this avenue, where you will find a large parking lot that in high season every year is more crowded and at certain times you will not find a place. After walking about 500 meters along a somewhat cobblestone path, heading north, you will find the beauty of Pont d’en Gil. Once you arrive and discover the spectacular beauty of the place, you won’t want to leave.

In the area of Pont d’en Gil there are no restaurants as such, you will have to go a little further to find services. In the car parking area, in the area of Avenida de Pont d’en Gil Los Delfines, there are restaurants and bars nearby where you can enjoy a good meal. Fortunately in Menorca the quality of the raw materials is exceptional, so that the great majority of restaurants and bars are worth the trouble.

What to see in Pont d’en Gil?

The island of Menorca preserves natural monuments originated by the erosion of the tramontana wind and the strong waves, which give rise to truly beautiful pictures, worthy of a postcard. Pont d’en Gil, located west of the island, 5.7 km from Ciutadella, next to Cala Corbetar, is a natural suspension bridge in the middle of a cliff, through which medium and small boats can access, usually kayaks or small boats. You can also walk on it if you wear the right footwear to avoid scares. If you go to Pont d’en Gil, you can not miss the photo at sunset, a beautiful picture worthy of profile picture on your social networks.

Once you arrive in paradise, you can practice numerous activities to make your day as entertaining as possible. For example, in recent years SlackLine is being practiced under the Pont d’en Gil, i.e., a rope is placed from side to side and you walk on it from end to end balancing and without restraint, the funambulism of a lifetime. An activity that is not usually practiced, but in an environment as beautiful as that of Pont d’en Gil, can hook anyone, especially if you have natural skills for this type of practice. Show your adventurous spirit!

Another option in case you like walking routes is to do the stage of the Camí de Cavalls that passes through the Pont d’en Gil and reach the lighthouse of Punta Nati. It is a very simple stretch that you can do with children or adults, as it is paved, and enjoy the desert landscape until you reach the lighthouse. Once there you will see the breathtaking panoramic view of the horizon on the Mediterranean Sea. In any of the areas close to Pont d’en Gil you will enjoy a great sunset, although perhaps from El Far da Punta Nati you will be more comfortable on the plains.

Diving in Pont d’en Gil

The area of Cala Corbetar is full of rocks and small caves where you can discover countless marine species typical of Menorca, it is a perfect setting for snorkeling in Pont d’en Gil. However, we recommend caution, as in high season there are usually many boats in the area, especially at the Pont d’en Gil. If you prefer a higher level, you want to dive in Pont d’en Gil and discover the deep cave Sa Cigonya, you have the opportunity to do so, since the visit is allowed as long as you have the corresponding qualification and the appropriate equipment for it.

This area is also known for having an underwater cave, which can only be accessed by diving. It is known as Sa Cigonya, and is about 300 m deep, no more and no less, a challenge even for the most experienced in the deep sea.

How to get to Pont d’en Gil by boat?

To reach Pont d’en Gil by boat, we must leave the port of Mahón heading SE. We will sail along the coast, leaving Illa del Rei to port.

We will continue out to the open sea, leaving the Punta de Sant Carles lighthouse to starboard.

Following the coastline in a southerly direction we will pass the outcrops of Na Girada and Punta Rafalet. We will continue skirting the island, which will take us in a SW direction and leave Punta Prima and Punta dels Marbres to starboard. At this point we will have the Illa de l’Aire on our port side.

Following the coastline, we will head in a NW direction and ascend passing Cabo Binibeca, Illot d’en Marçal, Cap d’en Font, Cap de ses Penyes, Illot de Binicodrell, Punta de Macarella, Punta des Tambors… until we reach Cap d’Artrutx (at the SW end of the island). From here we will ascend in NW direction leaving the Cap de Banyos to starboard, past it, we will find Pont d’en Gil to starboard.
